Questions parents ask about games for small children

What games are on this page, and what age is each for?

Seven, and they play right here in the browser. Bubble Pop suits 0 to 2, Rainbow Draw 0 to 5, Colour Splash and Animal Sounds 1 to 4, Shape Sorter 2 to 4, and Count & Tap and Memory Match 2 to 5. Each has three levels, so a game your child grows into does not run out immediately.

Do we need to download anything or sign up?

No. Nothing to install, no account, no email address. The one thing worth knowing is that the stars your child collects are kept in this browser, so they will not follow you to a different phone, and clearing your browsing data resets them. Nothing about the games depends on that, it is only the progress dots.

Are there ads or in-app purchases?

No ads, nothing to buy, and no links out to somebody else's games. Your child is not going to tap through to something you did not expect, which is the single most common complaint about free children's games.

What are the stars and levels for?

Three levels per game, and 63 stars across all seven if your child works through everything. It is there so a small child can see they got somewhere. There is no daily streak to keep up, nothing expires, and stopping halfway costs nothing.

Which one should we start with?

Bubble Pop and Rainbow Draw ask the least, so they work for babies and for a child who is tired. Shape Sorter, Count & Tap and Memory Match need a child who can hold a rule in their head, so they land better from about two. The ages on each card are a guide, not a test, and dropping to an easier game is not a step backwards.

How much screen time is reasonable at this age?

Paediatric guidance is fairly consistent: none at all under about 18 months apart from video calls with family, a little alongside an adult from 18 to 24 months, and up to about an hour a day of good content for two to five year olds. Watching with your child and talking about it matters more than the exact number. We go into it in screen time guidelines for Indian parents.

What can we do that does not involve a screen at all?

Honestly, more than a screen offers at this age. The free NavParent app carries eighteen screen-free games built around things an Indian home already has, like steel katoris, a dupatta, dal and old newspaper, each filtered to what a child of that age can actually do. Our screen-free activities for toddlers and sensory play for babies cover the same ground.

My child gets bored after two minutes. Is that normal?

Completely. Two to three minutes on one thing is a fair innings at two years old, and attention stretches on its own over the next couple of years. These games are built for that, which is why they are short. A child who wanders off is not failing at the game.
