Diaper Cost Per Change India: 7 Brands Priced
The short version. In Large size, one nappy costs between ₹9.12 and ₹21.63 depending on the brand. That is a 2.4 times gap for a thing you throw away six times a day. And the pack price will not tell you which is which, because Indian nappy packs hold anywhere from 30 to 76. |
Cost per nappy, all seven brands
Priced on Amazon.in on 10 October 2026, all seven on the same day, Large size unless marked. Cheapest per nappy first.
Brand | Nappies in pack | MRP | Per nappy at MRP | Price paid | Per nappy |
Himalaya Total Care | 76 | ₹1,405 | ₹18.49 | ₹693 | ₹9.12 |
Little's Premium | 60 | ₹840 | ₹14.00 | ₹580 | ₹9.67 |
MamyPoko Extra Absorb | 64 | ₹1,312 | ₹20.50 | ₹675 | ₹10.55 |
Huggies Wonder Pants | 64 | ₹1,299 | ₹20.30 | ₹1,000 | ₹15.63 |
Pampers Premium Care | 44 | ₹1,099 | ₹24.98 | ₹785 | ₹17.84 |
Allter Breeze | 30 | ₹899 | ₹29.97 | ₹649 | ₹21.63 |
Bumtum Premium (M size) | 72 | ₹1,217 | ₹16.90 | ₹566 | ₹7.86 |
Bumtum is listed separately on purpose. The Bumtum pack we could verify on the day is Medium, not Large, so it does not belong in the same column as the others. Medium nappies are smaller and cheaper to make, so ₹7.86 is not a like-for-like win.
The pack price ranks the brands wrongly
This is the part worth two minutes. Compare just two packs.
Allter Breeze | Himalaya Total Care | |
Pack price | ₹649 | ₹693 |
Nappies inside | 30 | 76 |
Cost per nappy | ₹21.63 | ₹9.12 |
Allter's pack is the cheaper of the two. Every nappy in it costs ₹12.51 more. Himalaya gives you 46 extra nappies for ₹44, which works out at under a rupee each.
Pack sizes in this category run from 30 to 76. The biggest pack holds two and a half times what the smallest does, and both sit on the same shelf at roughly the same price.
So the number on the front of the pack is close to useless on its own. Divide it by the count printed in small type, and do that every time, because the counts are not standard even within one brand.
Where you buy changes the order, not just the total
At MRP, Little's is the cheapest nappy on this list at ₹14.00. At the prices actually being charged, it is third, and Himalaya is cheapest at ₹9.12. The discounts are not even close to even.
Brand | Discount off MRP on the day |
Bumtum | 53% |
Himalaya | 51% |
MamyPoko | 49% |
Little's | 31% |
Pampers | 29% |
Allter | 28% |
Huggies | 23% |
A brand with a high MRP and a deep discount ends up cheaper than a brand with an honest MRP and a small one. Which means the only figure worth comparing is what you pay, divided by what you get.
What this costs over the nappy years
A baby gets through roughly 5,400 nappies from birth to out of them. At the prices above, that is:
Brand | Per nappy | A month in Large (180) | All 5,400 |
Himalaya Total Care | ₹9.12 | ₹1,642 | ₹49,248 |
Little's Premium | ₹9.67 | ₹1,741 | ₹52,218 |
MamyPoko Extra Absorb | ₹10.55 | ₹1,899 | ₹56,970 |
Huggies Wonder Pants | ₹15.63 | ₹2,813 | ₹84,402 |
Pampers Premium Care | ₹17.84 | ₹3,211 | ₹96,336 |
Allter Breeze | ₹21.63 | ₹3,893 | ₹1,16,802 |
₹67,554. That is the gap between the cheapest and the dearest brand across the whole nappy years, on the same number of nappies. It is a brand decision, made once, worth more than most people's monthly salary. |
Month to month it looks small, which is exactly why it goes unnoticed. ₹1,642 against ₹3,893 is a difference of ₹2,251 a month. Nobody switches brands over ₹2,251. Over two and a half years it is a second-hand car.
The MRPs do not agree between shops
We priced three of these brands two days earlier, on PharmEasy, for our three-brand comparison. The MRPs did not match what Amazon printed on 10 October.
Brand | MRP on 8 Oct (PharmEasy) | MRP on 10 Oct (Amazon) |
Huggies Wonder Pants, 64 | ₹1,199 | ₹1,299 |
MamyPoko Extra Absorb, 64 | ₹1,399 | ₹1,312 |
Pampers Premium Care, 44 | ₹1,399 | ₹1,099 |
We are not going to tell you which is right. Two shops can be listing different batches, different packs or stale data, and we cannot see the carton from here. What it does mean is that a printed MRP is not a fixed fact you can plan around — and that is the same thing we found when we checked ingredient lists across Indian pharmacies.
Price the pack in your hand, on the day, at the shop you are actually buying from. Every chart on the internet, including this one, is a snapshot.
How we did this
One day, one shop. All seven were priced on Amazon.in on 10 October 2026. Mixing days or shops would have made the comparison meaningless.
Every per-nappy figure was cross-checked against the per-count price the listing prints itself. If our arithmetic and theirs disagreed, we did not publish the row.
Large size wherever we could get it. Bumtum is Medium and is marked as such.
Teddyy is missing because we could not find a listing for it we were confident enough to price. We would rather leave a gap than guess.
We did not test absorbency, fit or leaks. This is arithmetic on prices and pack counts, nothing more. A cheap nappy that leaks costs you two nappies and a bedsheet.
Cost is one input. If you want the rest, we have the three-brand comparison, how to pick the right size and the full roundup.
Questions parents ask
Which diaper is cheapest in India?
Per nappy, Himalaya Total Care at ₹9.12 on 10 October 2026, with Little's a whisker behind at ₹9.67. Per pack, Bumtum at ₹566 — but that pack is Medium and holds 72.
How much do diapers cost per change in India?
Between ₹9 and ₹22 in Large size, depending entirely on the brand. At MRP the range is ₹14 to ₹30.
Why is Pampers more expensive per diaper?
Mostly because the pack holds 44 where most rivals hold 60 to 76. The pack price looks normal and the per-nappy price is near the top of the range.
Is a bigger diaper pack always cheaper per nappy?
Within one brand, usually yes. Across brands, no — a big pack of an expensive brand still loses to a medium pack of a cheap one. Always divide.
How much should I budget for diapers in a month?
About ₹1,650 a month on the cheapest brand in Large size and about ₹3,900 on the dearest, at six nappies a day. The newborn months are higher because the count is nearly double.
Do diaper prices change much?
Yes, and fast. Discounts on this list ran from 23% to 53% off MRP on a single day, and two shops two days apart printed different MRPs for the same brand.
